SCREEN POLICY LAB
SCREEN POLICY LAB
Veltha is developing the SCREEN Policy Lab. Building upon the knowledge generated through the H2020 SCREEN project and the valuable exchanges during past Policy Lab sessions with European regional representatives, the initiative is now entering a new phase.
Policy Recommendations | The SCREEN Policy Lab on Composite Materials
Following the SCREEN Policy Lab held on May 21, 2025, Veltha has published a set of policy recommendations addressing regulatory and market barriers to the reuse of composite materials within the circular economy.
The recommendations build on insights gathered during the Policy Lab, as well as on targeted stakeholder surveys, and reflect contributions from European policymakers, regional authorities, industry representatives, waste managers, and R&D actors. Particular attention is given to challenges related to End-of-Waste status, quality standards, and the need for greater regulatory harmonisation and interregional coordination across Europe.
Grounded in practical experiences from European regions, the document outlines actionable policy directions to support the uptake of recycled composite materials and to enable more effective and scalable circular economy solutions.
The publication represents a concrete outcome of the SCREEN Policy Lab process and contributes to ongoing policy discussions at European, national, and regional levels, reinforcing the role of the Policy Lab as a platform for policy innovation and cross-regional cooperation.
SCREEN POLICY LAB - DeremCo Session
On May 21, 2025, Veltha, in collaboration with the DeremCo Consortium, hosted an online SCREEN Policy Lab dedicated to tackling regulatory barriers and exploring policy solutions for the reuse of composite materials in the circular economy.
The session brought together European policymakers, regional authorities, industry leaders, and legal experts to share insights and propose ways to streamline composite reuse, particularly around End-of-Waste status, quality standards, and interregional policy coordination.
Key speakers included Aimee Forcada (Veltha), Laura Mazzola (POLIMI), and Gian Marco Gioffré (WindEurope), as well as industry representatives from GREENTHESIS, Carbon Cleanup, BIRZIPLASTIK, and VEPLAS. Regional voices from Slovenia, the Basque Country, and Portugal joined the roundtable to advocate for harmonized certification frameworks and improved regulatory clarity at the EU level.
This dynamic exchange marked a key step toward a Policy Brief and upcoming follow-up actions planned for late 2025, reinforcing the Policy Lab’s evolution into a catalyst for tangible interregional cooperation and policy innovation.
